ARTiS = Artists in schools
Bringing Art to Every Child
ARTiS is an international creative learning project connecting contemporary artists, cultural professionals, and lower secondary school pupils across Czechia, Slovakia, Germany, and Italy.
The project is based on the idea that access to contemporary art and creative expression should be a natural part of every child’s education, regardless of where they live or their social background. ARTiS builds on a successful Czech model of “Artists in Schools”, developed over the past three years.
During the programme, pupils work directly with professional artists, exploring free artistic creation in an open and supportive environment without pressure or evaluation.
They also step into the roles of curators, producers, technicians, or PR professionals and collaboratively prepare their own public exhibition presented within the school.
The project supports creativity, self-confidence, critical thinking, collaboration, and authenticity in young people, while also creating new opportunities for exchange between artists, schools, and cultural professionals across Europe.
Through pilot activities, international collaboration, and shared educational resources, ARTiS aims to develop a sustainable European model for creative learning that can inspire schools and cultural institutions far beyond the duration of the project.
Project Structure
1. Methodology & Training
ARTiS develops a shared European methodology for creative learning based on collaboration between artists, cultural professionals, and schools. Partners work together to adapt the programme to different educational and cultural contexts across Czechia, Slovakia, Germany, and Italy. Artists and cultural professionals take part in international training, mentoring, and peer-learning activities focused on working with young people in school environments.
2. School Pilot Programmes
The project is implemented in 16 schools across Europe. During two-day creative workshops, pupils collaborate directly with professional artists to create original artworks and later transform their schools into exhibition spaces curated and presented by the students themselves. The programme encourages creativity, teamwork, communication, and self-confidence through hands-on artistic experience.
3. Sharing & Sustainability
ARTiS creates an open online platform featuring educational materials, methodology resources, and a digital gallery of student works. The project also supports international exchange between educators, artists, and cultural professionals, helping to build a long-term European network for creative learning and collaboration between schools and the cultural sector.

ARTiS Consortium
The consortium was not created as a formal partnership from the beginning. It grew naturally through years of collaboration, shared projects, exhibitions, and professional encounters. What connected the partners was not only their expertise, but also shared values — openness, trust, and the conviction that art can play an important role in education and community life.
The project is coordinated by Linky umění z.s. (Czech Republic), initiator of the successful Czech programme Artists in Schools, which forms the foundation of ARTiS. Italian partner Techne Art Service contributes extensive experience in exhibition production, scenography, and technical support for international cultural events, including projects connected with the Venice Biennale and Venice Glass Week. EFBZ – Europäisches Fortbildungszentrum in Germany brings expertise in craftsmanship, vocational education, and sustainable approaches to working with materials and young people. The Slovak partner, Tatranská galéria v Popradě, contributes strong experience in gallery education, community engagement, and educational programmes for children and teenagers, while also connecting the project to wider European cultural networks.
Together, the partners combine artistic practice, education, cultural production, craftsmanship, and community work to create a new European model of creative learning based on collaboration, authenticity, and shared experience.
